Episode Five - The Lasagna & Garlic Bread

The "Easy-Peasy Momma Lasagna" & Garlic Bread

Tools We Used On The Show:

Lasagna Ingredients:

  • 16 oz Cottage Cheese
  • 1 lb bag of Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 Ib Ground Beef
  • 2 Jars of Spaghetti Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 box of Lasagna Noodles

Garlic Bread Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf of French Bread
  • 1/2 Stick of Butter
  • 1 Clove of Garlic

The Lasagna: 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. 
  2. Brown hamburger. In a pan, mix spaghetti sauce and meat. Add a tsp of honey or sugar if you would like to try our yummy sauce! Doing this cuts down on the acid in the sauce. We always do this for our sauce!
  3. Set aside 1 cup of mozzarella for topping. Mix in a medium bowl the rest of the mozzarella, cottage cheese & egg. 
  4. Begin layering by (THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP) putting a layer of sauce in the bottom of your pan. Then add your layer of noodles.
  5. Continue layering in this order (this is how we did it) sauce-noodles-cheese-noodles-sauce- etc. If you prefer a more saucy lasagna, layer the usual way of sauce-noodles-cheese-repeat. Your last layer must be sauce- don't fill it too high!
  6. Cover your pan with aluminum foil and cook for 50 min.
  7. Once baked, remove foil and sprinkle remaining mozzarella remaining mozzarella on top. If you wish, grate some fresh parmesan on there too. 
  8. Bake another 10 minutes UNCOVERED until your cheese is melted.
  9. Let lasagna set at least 15 minutes before cutting! If you serve it too soon it is a runny mess.
  10. Slice & enjoy!

The Garlic Bread:

  1. Preheat oven at 425°.
  2. Slice your loaf of French Bread into 1-inch thick slices.
  3. Melt the butter in a small bowl.
  4. Mince 1 clove of garlic.
  5. Mix together garlic & butter.
  6. Using a brush, spread mixture onto one side of bread slices.
  7. Sprinkle grated parmesan on top of each slice.
  8. Bake on stone pan for 10 minutes.
  9. Enjoy!
